BACKGROUND

The purpose of this award is to send a clear message to staff that the university also places importance on sports and recreational activities. It is hoped that this initiative will serve as a catalyst for enhancing sports activities at the university level by honouring university athletes. It also serves as a gesture of appreciation for the contributions of athletes who have brought pride to the university. Through this recognition, it is also hoped to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle through sports participation.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the award are to:

  • Serve as encouragement and motivation for UMPSA athletes to continually improve their performance in sports and recreation;
  • Demonstrate UMPSA's commitment to enhancing the quality and achievements of university sports; and
  • Acknowledge and appreciate the efforts and collaboration of all parties involved in sports activities.

AWARD CATEGORIES

  • Best Male and Female Athlete
    This category is awarded to individuals who have consistently demonstrated outstanding performance in sports for the year and have brought honour to the university.
  • Best Team
    This award is presented to a sports team that has achieved significant success in competitions at the international, national, state, or university level.
  • Sports Leadership Award
    This award is given to an individual who has shown exceptional leadership in advancing university sports and has been actively involved in the development and organisation of sports at the state, national, or international level.

  • Best Male and Female Athlete
    This category is awarded to individuals who have consistently demonstrated outstanding performance in sports for the year and have brought honour to the university.
  • Best Team
    This award is presented to a sports team that has achieved significant success in competitions at the international, national, state, or university level.
  • Sports Leadership Award
    This award is given to an individual who has shown exceptional leadership in advancing university sports and has been actively involved in the development and organisation of sports at the state, national, or international level.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Best Athlete Award (Male & Female)

a. Represented the university and won a medal at inter-university or equivalent level competitions during the evaluation year (e.g., SUKUM, SUKANUN, INTERVARSITY)
b. Represented the state at the national level and won a medal recognized by the National Sports Association (e.g., MAKSAK, SUKMA, CLUB)
c. Represented the country at the international level
d. Participated in university-level or equivalent internal sports competitions (e.g., INTER-PTJ, PAHANG CLOSED CHAMPIONSHIP, CLUB)

Best Team Award (Male & Female)

a. Represented the university and won a medal at inter-university or equivalent level competitions during the evaluation year (e.g., SUKUM, SUKANUN, INTERVARSITY)
b. Represented the state at the national level and won a medal recognized by the National Sports Association (e.g., MAKSAK, SUKMA, CLUB)
c. Represented the country at the international level
d. Participated in university-level or equivalent internal sports competitions (e.g., INTER-PTJ, PAHANG CLOSED CHAMPIONSHIP, CLUB)
e. Consistent performance in sports achievements
f. Consistent in training management

Sports Leadership Award

a. This award is granted to individuals who have been actively involved in sports for a long time and have continuously contributed their efforts, time, and financial support for the advancement and success of sports
b. Holds or has held a top position/committee membership in a State or National Sports Association
c. Sports administrator or has been involved in organizing high-impact sports events
d. An individual who demonstrates commendable leadership qualities
e. Provides excellent service in sports technical matters or activities
f. An individual who offers extraordinary service and contributions towards the development of sports
g. A dedicated individual who serves as a source of inspiration for the advancement of sports

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

i. Open to all permanent and contract staff of UMPSA.
ii. Must obtain verification from the Head of Department.
iii. Self-nomination, peer nomination, or nomination by the Head of Department is allowed.
iv. Each nominee may only win the award for a maximum of two (2) consecutive years.
v. Each application must be accompanied by a verified endorsement letter or related images/documents. (e.g., Sports Association, event organizers, or certificates)
