BEST WRITING PLAN AWARD

BACKGROUND

In an effort to strengthen the university’s branding, in line with the slogan “Technology for Society”, academic staff and administrators play a vital role in sharing their expertise through various communication channels. This includes producing written materials and expressing views and opinions within their respective areas of expertise for publication in trusted mass media, print media, or online portals.

To recognize contributions in the field of writing, the university has introduced this award as a form of appreciation and recognition for staff and departments that have demonstrated outstanding achievements through the cultivation of a writing culture, while also enhancing the quality of their work through the adoption of innovation in their assigned tasks and responsibilities.

OBJECTIVES

  • To give appreciation and recognition to staff and departments that have demonstrated outstanding achievements through the cultivation of good writing practices;
  • To motivate award recipients to continue contributing consistently in writing and to further improve the quality of their work through innovative practices in their roles and responsibilities;
  • To inspire and motivate all UMPSA staff to emulate the excellence shown by the award recipients so they too can achieve similar success and be eligible for this award in the future; and
  • To cultivate more creative writers who share their expertise with the public through writing, thereby contributing to the university’s ranking criteria.

INCENTIVES AND PRIZES

First Place: RM1,000.00, Trophy, and Certificate of Appreciation
Second Place: RM700.00, Trophy, and Certificate of Appreciation
Third Place: RM500.00, Trophy, and Certificate of Appreciation

APPLICATION CRITERIA / REQUIREMENTS

i) Open to all academic and administrative staff of UMPSA, whether permanent, contract-based, or temporary;
ii) The submitted article must be the original work of the participant and must not have previously won any other awards;
iii) The article must have been published on official platforms such as the university website, bulletin, magazine, newspaper, or journal within the specified period;
iv) Articles may be written in either Malay or English, using professional and appropriate language;
v) Participants must ensure that the article does not violate any copyright laws, and proper credit must be given if external sources are referenced;
vi) Submissions will only be accepted within the period set by the organiser. Articles submitted after the deadline will not be considered;
vii) Nominees must not have received this award in the past two years, specifically during the Innovation Quality Day 2023 and Innovation Quality Day 2024.
